Coarse dirt on leather or shoe soles can be removed with a stiff brush. It is essential to choose the right brush based on the sensitivity of the leather. Make sure to shake out any dirt that has become ingrained in the brush after each use in order to avoid any small stones or dirt particles scratching the leather next time you wear the shoes.
The application brush resembles a brush that can be used to apply polish to the upper leather. It can be used in addition to a cotton cleaning cloth and is suited to caring for heavily textured leather, in areas which would be hard to reach with the cloth.
The polishing brush, which is the brush used for the final fine polishing of high-quality shoes, is a silky and soft brush. The bristles are hard enough to pick up excess product, but also soft enough to leave some wax behind, thus adding shine to the leather.
Suede is particularly suited to being cared for using a rough-leather brush and can be brushed out excellently without damaging the underlying leather structure. By using diagonal movements to brush the leather surface, you can reduce the risk of damaging the suede. The suede brush is able to remove dirt from the suede quickly, therefore avoiding damage caused to the leather by over-stressing the material.
The shoe cloth is suitable for using after the shoe polish has been applied and set. Rubbing the shoe makes the surface of the leather shine, giving the shoe a particularly glossy finish.
